In the mid 1950s, Dwight D Eisenhower (1890–1969), the 34th President of the United States and a five-star general during World War II, first presented an executive organizing method that helped him prioritize and tackle the many challenges and tasks he faced as the Leader of the Free World. “I have two kinds of problems, the urgent and the important,” he said.  “The urgent are not important and the important are never urgent.” He divided his tasks into four quadrants based on that observation.
