"This is a great pen. The weight is balanced and feels good in the hand posted or unposted, the Fine nib is smooth and has a good amount of ink flow. The slip on cap is quick and convienent. It's my go to for long writing sessions as it's so comfortable to use. About the flam finish, I had an idea of what to expect after reading some of the other reviews. Mine is also not like the picture, but still has a unique look which I really like. I even bought another as a gift for my brother."

Disappointed

"The pen is beautiful in the site photo but the actual pen looked nothing like the photo. The pen itself feels good in the hand but the coloring was nothing like the photo and the cap had tiny scratches on it. I ordered a replacement hoping to get better coloring. It is better but still looks nothing like the photo. I am keeping it but I can't recommend it due to my experience."

Like ice-skating on paper

"Recently, I was inspired by an article in The Atlantic magazine about how ball point pens made handwriting more difficult, and that fountain pens were such a joy for those who write often. I have purchased 3 fountain pens from Levenger, and this is my current favorite. The weight, the iridescent metallic finish, and just the right barrel size. The cap stays firmly on the end while writing. It’s such a pleasure to write that I’m filling up my journals faster than usual. I love how it glides across the page. I’m hooked!"

Stylish and practical smooth writer

"The Monteverde Dakota in Afterburner is such a stylish and functional fountain pen at the same time! The shape is very smooth looking, shiny, and the cap slips in (hence the name of the cap system, ‘Slip-In Cap’) and stays snug over the nib, as well as at the back of the barrel so you can post the cap when writing. As a result, its size is small when the pen is closed (and therefore pocket size), and of regular fountain pen size when posted. Perfect for traveling, or in your purse. Loving the engraved propeller at the tip of the cap. It reminds us of WWII aviation history and the famous D-Day Dakota aircraft. The Afterburner model is made by burning the stainless steel to make it even more resistant, and gives an incredible blue and brown sheen. Depending on how you look at the pen, and how the light falls onto it, the color seems to change! Also loving the smooth writing of this pen, even if the biggest nib is a medium size. Absolutely recommend!"

Is the nib replaceable? If so, what do I order?
It is however we do not carry the nib replacements for this pen. You would have to reach out to Monteverde directly.
